MY STORY

My love and passion for wood turning developed in my teen years as I worked at a small sawmill in the midwest. We sawed mostly furniture grade lumber and hardwoods that farmers harvested off their land. We took the fresh wood through the whole process that took many months if not years, from logs, to dried and planed furniture grade lumber. I learned a lot about wood and was exposed to many crafts involving wood. Everything from turning duck decoys to building custom coffins. My whole life I have either had my own small woodworking shop or access to a larger shared shop of some kind. About 15 years ago I tried my hand at wood turning and found it very meditative and relaxing.
Nowadays I look forward to bringing forth the natural beauty of rescued logs from local sources felled for reasons other than lumber. Many of these trees have to be taken down due to storm damage or disease. This wood can be put to good use by becoming part of your celebrations in life as well as being passed down as family heirlooms. My goal is to continue to create utilitarian items for all to enjoy and give this wood an even longer second life!
Keepsake Bowl Project!
If you live in the SF Bay Area (within a 20 mile radius of Pleasant Hill) and have a hardwood tree on your property that needs to be removed, I will be happy to create you a bowl as a keepsake in return for several pieces of the tree. Please contact me and we can discuss the details.
